VOTW expands to include the Chugach National Forest!

In 2011, we expanded the Voices of the Wilderness artist residency to the Chugach National Forest, making it an Alaska regional program.  In August, Kathy Hodge, oil painter from Providence, RI joined the rangers out in Prince William Sound (Nellie Juan College Fiord wilderness study area).

Kathy Hodge is an oil painter from Providence, Rhode Island.  While her subject matter has been inspired by many different things from over the years, she has a strong passion for the natural world.  This love is evidenced by her past participation in eight different artist-in-residences with the National Parks.  Residencies include Rocky Mountain National Park, Cape Cod National Seashore, Acadia National Park in Maine, Sand Island in the Apostle Island National Lakeshore, Glacier National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Badlands National Park and Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Aug 10-17, 2011 marked her first residency with the National Forest Service, and her first time to Alaska.  Kathy spent her residency in Harriman and College Fiord in northwestern Prince William Sound.
